Construction Careers for Aboriginals
There are good paying jobs available in the construction industry for Aboriginal workers. Our training will give ensure that you make the most of these opportunities. No prior experience required.
VanAsep has teamed up with British Columbia’s Industry Training Authority and Scott Construction, one of the Lower Mainland’s leading construction and contract employers, to deliver a series of apprenticeships and training classes to ensure active and gainful Aboriginal participation in the construction industry with access to a large number of skilled trade or Red Seal Certified apprenticeships.
Construction Training Program
Our 6-week foundation will teach you the construction skills that employers want. You will learn how the construction industry works, and get an inside perspective of what’s expected, what you can offer, and what it takes to make it and get a good paying job. Become safety certified, making you more attractive to employers and increasi your wages. Learn how to connect with employers through job searchers, placement and referrals. We provide the initial assessments, screening, safety and essential skills training as well as gear to get you into an apprenticeship as soon as possible. Training is offered at several locations, including:
The Squamish Trades Centre in North Vancouver, the Native Education Centre in Vancouver, Campbell River Skills Center, Om Tows Skills Centre in Powell River and the VanAsep Mobile Training Solutions.

Course Prerequisites
• A demonstrated interest in the construction industry, and a referral from either a First Nation or construction company
• All clients must be 19 years of age or older
• Be able to pass a Basic Skill assessment
• Be in good physical condition
